2020 Atlas Recap

2020 will go down in history as one of the most challenging years for our company, while also serving as one of the biggest years for growth. We've been challenged in ways that we wouldn't have without all of the events that happened this year, and we're thankful to be able to grow during a season of uncertainty.

As of this November, we're proud to say we've fully moved into our new location on Hill Rd. Moving to a more optimal and efficient location for our Team was something that we wanted to prioritize for the last couple of years, and after months of hard work, we've accomplished that! Provided with more than double the space, our Team is more equipped than ever before to continue bringing excellence to all of our amazing clients, spanning across the entire south-east section of Michigan.

We want to express our gratitude to you for supporting Atlas Outdoor since our inception in 2008. Our Mission has always been to be recognized as the leading lawn maintenance, landscape, and snow management company in our service area, and we believe we have achieved that standard for each of our clients, industry partners, and Team members.

If you want to learn more about why the Atlas trucks and trailers are all over town, feel free to contact us today! Have a great 2020-2021 holiday season ahead, and God bless.

Best Backyard

The Atlas Outdoor team was awarded "Best Backyard in Michigan" by Unilock for our incredible Davison, MI build. This project was such a proud win for us says owner Sam Gembel as it was such a collaboration of many of our Team Members that came together to build such a large scale, gorgeous project. "It was definitely the largest build we've ever done and we couldn't be happier to have given the awesome clients their dream outdoor oasis space" says Sam which was designed by Atlas's design team in the Fall of 2018 and was completed over the first 1/2 of the 2019 season.

Lobdell Lake

At the 2018 Unilock Awards of Excellence, Atlas Outdoor received an award for our Lobdell Lake project completed earlier this season. The project was nominated for creativity and recognition for the design in a very tricky space. Much of the work had to be completed by hand due to lack of access from the street. What a beauty and we are honored that our hard work was recognized.

Hardscape North America & GIE Week

November 1, 2018

Every October, we send a Team to Louisville Kentucky to attend the Green Industry Expo and Hardscape North America. It is the largest event of its kind with attendees from all over the continent attending and is a must for all landscape and lawn care professionals wanting to work on improving their businesses! We get to demo all the latest equipment, and connect with professionals from across the country through educational seminars and keynote speakers. It's these types of events, as tough as it is to get away for a few days, that gives us additional strategies to take our Team to the next level. This year, we were HONORED to work alongside of Hardscape Expert Frank Bourque in the ICPI tent at Hardscape North America with the educational classes and seminars for hardscapes.

Atlas Host The Pilot ICPI Paver Training Course

Paver Training

At the 2018 ICPI Annual Meeting, the ICPI Board of Directors identified workforce development as a priority for the industry. One of the programs being developed to address this issue is the ICPI Boot Camp. The goal of the Boot Camp is take inexperienced workers and to provide them with a basic level of competency on a segmental pavement job site. Frank Bourque from Greenmark was chosen to develop the content for the program. To date the task group has reviewed the student guide, instructor's guide, presentation slide deck, videos and exam.

To test the materials, a pilot Boot Camp was held on August 20-21. Five students who had limited experience installing interlocking concrete pavements worked with Frank Gandora who instructed the course. Responses from the students was positive.

The course was instructed as two full days with 8 hours of classroom training and 8 hours of hands on training in which the students construct a small interlocking concrete paver patio during the 3 labs. Observers for the training included Frank Bourque, Dean Jurik, Ken Lenhardt, Bryan Hoar and Robert Bowers.
